Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Hits Crunchyroll April 30

Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Hits Crunchyroll Tomorrow

If you missed Reze Arc in theaters last fall, tomorrow is your day. Crunchyroll is dropping the full Chainsaw Man movie on the platform Thursday April 30, sub and dub both available at launch. It's also the kickoff of Crunchyroll's 2026 Ani-May celebration.

What Reze Arc Is

The Reze Arc movie adapts manga chapters 39 through 52 in one feature-length cut. Runtime is 1 hour 40 minutes. It picks up Denji as a teenage devil hunter wielding the Chainsaw Devil's powers, and drops him into the path of his most dangerous opponent yet: Reze, the Bomb Devil. That's the whole hook. There is no sequel arc to set up. No spin-off to manage. It is a complete contained story.

Why It's a Big Deal

This movie pulled $160 million plus globally during its theatrical run last fall. It sits at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a Crunchyroll Anime Awards Film of the Year nominee, with the ceremony happening in Tokyo on May 23. The animation work, especially the action sequences, is being talked about as some of the best anime put to screen in recent memory.

The theatrical-first strategy MAPPA committed to with this one was a real gamble. Reze Arc earned its reputation in theaters first, and now it is finally available on the platform where most fans actually watch this stuff.

What to Expect Tomorrow

Sub and dub at launch is the right call. The English dub cast is strong, and the subbed version preserves the original voice work for purists. Both are available worldwide except France and Japan starting Thursday.

If you have not been keeping up with Chainsaw Man manga or the original anime series, this works as a relatively standalone entry point. The movie does the lifting to bring viewers up to speed without bogging down for first-timers. If you have been keeping up, you already know.

After You Watch

If the movie hits and you want to keep reading, the Reze Arc lives in manga volumes 5 through 7. Volume 5 picks up around where the film opens, and 7 takes you past where it ends. Good entry point if you want more Denji after Thursday.
